Google Maps

With an API key from the Google Maps SDK, it is possible to use Google Maps backgrounds within Icon Map Pro.

API Keys can be obtained from the Google Maps platform on the API Keys tab. Ensure that the Maps JavaScript API is enabled for your project and that your API Key has access to it. The API Key should then be pasted into the Google Maps box within Icon Map Pro's API Configuration area in the formatting settings.

Icon Map Pro displays all Google Maps backgrounds (Roadmap, Satellite, Hybrid and Terrain) and the Google traffic overlay through the Maps JavaScript API. The Map Tiles API is not required. If you restrict your API key to specific APIs, only the Maps JavaScript API needs to be selected.

For projects with a billing address in the European Economic Area, Google does not provide satellite imagery through the Map Tiles API, and recommends the Maps JavaScript API Satellite map type instead. This is the method Icon Map Pro already uses.
